ADU Addition – Shaw House

Project Location:  Lake Oswego, OR Project Size:  800 sf Project Type:  Residential Accessory Dwelling Unit The ADU was a part of a study for a sensitive modernization to John Yeon’s Shaw house.  The client wished to create an in-law unit for the property. The building massing and siting was oriented to create a private courtyard and preserve the original entry sequence of the home.  The forms followed the simple geometry of the main house and Yeon’s work of merging simple “barn” structures with modernist articulation.  The design kept with the 3′-0″ panel module, matching cornice and detailing and dual sloped roof.  The ADU also follow’s Yeon’s fore thinking of providing high-low cross ventilation to naturally condition the house and large overhanging eaves. Project Team:   Client / Interior Design:  Neil Kelly   Architecture Design:  Potestio Studio (Steven Ohlhaber as design consultant)
