Red Frog Events – Expansion – Interior Design

Location:  Chicago, Illinois

Project Type: Interior Design

Red Frog Events has consistently been one of the top companies to work for in Chicago for the past three years.  One reason is its innovative and youthful culture.  As creators of Warrior Dash and The Great Urban Race events, they sought to create an environment that was more like a summer camp than an office.  Each year, a new “class” of interns attends “Camp Red Frog” and learns the ropes of creating challenging and exciting events.  The office is arranged around areas of collaboration, meeting and play with a language of forms and activities you would find at a summer camp.   We designed treehouses for meetings, zip lines for swinging and catching, tree forests, picnic style lunchrooms for movie night or “all hands” gatherings, climbing walls, mason jar light fixtures and even brought in a camper to be a meeting room.  Workstations are kept low to promote visual contact between “campers”.  Offices are shared to give privacy but not isolation.

Red Frog Events also wanted to be environmentally conscious with their build-out.  Recycled wood, electrical fixtures, doors and other items were found, reclaimed, reused to create toilet stall partitions, meeting room furniture and other decorations around the office.  Build-out with new walls was kept to a relative minimum.

This project was the third expansion we had done for this client.  It created their branded presence off of the main lobby of the building and added two floors of additional space to their offices.
